My SO has been coming with me to DLV for the past few years and
actually looks forward to coming. Our problem at DLV is having
time to do everything. With the overlapping events we often have
to skip some things that would be fun for other things that we
enjoy even more, but that's the way life is.
We like to go to lots of shows and often eat in better places
than is usually scheduled for DLV events. Sometimes we go to
regularly scheduled DLV events and then leave early for dinner
elsewhere or something else on our own or with others. Sometimes
my SO goes off and does things on her own or with others.
My SO went to a few transgender conventions with me early on,
was bored to death and hated the hotel bar gatherings and
seminars. However, my SO loves the way the DLV schedule allows
us to do somethings, skip others, and do what is interesting for
both of us.
I personally don't see any reason for exclusive couples gatherings.
The DLV schedule and model allows us to get together with others,
couples included, at the regular gatherings or make plans for
dinner, shopping, or whatever our own or with others outside
the DLV schedule.
This is what makes DLV a vacation rather than a convention!
Right now I'm looking for shows we have not seen that would
be interesting. In the past we have hosted DLV attendees going
to such shows and gone to shows others have hosted. We have been
to so many we are running out of new shows to attend. I'd love
to see some show suggestions for the early part of the week
especially!
