Suggested Hotels for Diva Las Vegas 2009(Last updated February 23, 2009)
The following hotels are suggested for DLV 2009 attendees:
(in alphabetical order)
These suggestions are made for those who want to know where our people have stayed and reported good service, and where to stay if they want to be near other DLV people. For those who will not have a vehicle, ride sharing (carpooling), at the riders' own risk, will be coordinated for those staying in our suggested hotels. A few notes on each hotel, including each hotel's official web site and (when available) a link to the CheapoVegas review of that hotel ...
Alexis Park is an upper-midscale nongaming resort-hotel located on Harmon Avenue in the vicinity of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, and adjacent to the St. Tropez, one of our other suggested hotels. Alexis Park is known for being a discreet hideaway for celebrities who wish to remain out of the public eye. Issues with overbooking at the Alexis Park have been reported. Web site: www.alexispark.com Hint: Some promotional material for Alexis Park claims that they are located "one block from the Strip", which is an extreme exaggeration! Alexis Park is about 3/4 of a mile east of the Strip.
This is the first year we've used Gold Coast as one of our suggested hotels, although we've had people stay there off and on over the years. Gold Coast is a medium-size midscale off-Strip casino-hotel which offers decent rooms at decent rates. The casino is low-limit, heavy on video poker with a live poker room and bowling alley. Hint: Again, this property exaggerates their (non)proximity to the Strip at times, using expressions as "just off the Strip" and such. It's a very difficult walk to the Strip, involving a busy expressway overpass and crossing heavy traffic on foot.

Imperial Palace is a large midscale casino-hotel in the Center Strip area. Big advantage to the IP is location-location-location. The IP has been used by DLV people each year since 1997 with absolutely no reported incidents.

Hint: Imperial Palace desk personnel have been known to adjust rates on the spot at check-in if better rates are available. Ask!
The Paris is a very large upscale hotel-casino right in the heart of the action on the center Strip. The Paris is the first major Strip hotel to actively invite GLBT business (note that they have included the T). The Paris is very nice, but not cheap! It also tends to be crowded, particularly on the weekends. Countless shops and eateries grace the property. The Eiffel Tower is a major attraction and offers a spectacular view of the Strip! One caveat: Although the Paris promises that their staff will be TG-friendly, this is a very large casino-hotel and tends to be crowded at times.

Request: Even though Paris avows to be GLBT-friendly, we ask that you follow restroom guidelines closely if you choose to use public restrooms on this property. Please help set a positive example of the TG community.
The Sahara is one of the classic legacy Las Vegas casino-hotels which has been home-away-from-home to DLV people continuously since 1999. Very good rates are often available at the Sahara, if booked well in advance. Ever since 2000, the Sahara has held the largest group of our attendees of any hotel in the area.

Hint: Reservations agents will often quote an additional $10 (or so) for "deluxe" or recently-remodeled rooms in the newer Tangiers tower or the Alexandria Tower. If you reserve a regular room, you have a significant chance of being given one of these "deluxe" rooms at check-in even though you will be paying the lower rate.
The St Tropez is a midscale "all-suite" non-casino hotel located on Harmon Avenue about 3/4 of a mile east of the Strip, directly opposite the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The St Tropez is suggested for those who specifically want an off-Strip hotel, a non-gaming hotel, or for those who may be uneasy walking through a large hotel lobby or casino.
