Hi Laura,
On going to Studio 54 at the MGM, I've been there
several times on Halloween with other locals of LV
like Michelle and Debbie. The best is to get there
early. When I went, it opened at 10pm. Going later
usually means possibly standing in a very long line
to get in that night with everyone in costume waiting to
get in.
Going early at opening allows the best picking for
finding a place to sit, esp if you are in a group, and
to find a good location to see the center stage
and the entertainment.... and if you want to dance
or dance in costume, again, its good to have a
place to sit closeby, and also see the enterainment.
They have closed circuit tvs, but its better to see
it live. The good seats fill up quickly, and those
that take them plan to stay a long time, so the
seats may not become available quickly. When
I went they had entertainment that would come
down from the ceiling near the stage too at
various times during the evening.
The design of the place has curves and two
floors, and a few dance areas, and as such
some sitting areas cannot directly see the stage.
Be aware that it is a spectacle and there will be
a crowd commenting and watching everyone that
goes into the club, or while walking through the
casino.
There is a nice size bar near the entrance, and it
is usually packed that night, but its one place one
can wait for studio 54 to open, and a place to have
a few drinks, and hopefully find a open table to sit
while waiting.
If your costume is good, you can enter the various contest
categories they have, and go on stage in front of
everyone to see you. Some of the outfits I saw was awesome.
The cocktail waitresses are also costumed. The one that
took orders for our drinks one halloween,
was dressed like Zena, and she was in good physical
shape, basically she had the right curves in the right
places, and looked really awesome. There
are several bars in different areas to cover the seating
areas.
At the time I went, there was a very small ladies room
on the second floor which always had lines, and a really
big one on the bottom floor near the stage area. This
is something that you may want to consider when finding
a place to sit.
The music and dj mixes were good too.
If you have the time, its good to go the night before and
check out the place to find where you want to be on
the 31st.
.. just some observations
