I thought this might be of interest to some of you in the group...... I
submitted thismusic video of the CGS 2003 pageant rehersal footage I
shot and set to the song "Georgie Girl" to this film festival and they
are going to show it as a part of Program number 1 at 2pm. Please read
on I think there is a lot to see here and it looks like a really cool
place to meet new friends and discuss trans experience.
HOME: CHICAGO TRANS/GENDERQUEER FILM/VIDEO FESTIVAL
The festival will be occuring on SATURDAY AUGUST 28th 2004 at Women in
the Director's Chair' s black box theater, which is located in The WIDC
Theater, 941 W. Lawrence Ave, 5th floor. The program of film festival
shorts will be in 3 2hr parts PART 1 is at 2pm PART 2 is at 5pm and PART
3 is at 8pm. Each short looks really different from comedy skit to
thoughtful documentary to music video and spanning the full spectrum of
Trans people and experience.
Please be aware that this looks like a grass roots kind of affair so
don't expect movie marquees and spotlights and I should say a few of the
shorts seem to have sexual content (i.e. don't bring your children, do
bring a sense of humor and an open mind)
Here's the description the festival director sent me...
The festival will be an all day event, with three programs of videos,
live perfromances, video installations exhibited continuously throughout
the day, as well as lots of free food, Q&A with the mediamakers, and an
info table with zines, pamphlets on trans legal and health issues. More
than simply a festival to screen work, we envision the festival as a
place for people to meet, discuss ideas, get information, and build
coalitions across trans, feminist, queer, anti-racist and other
"identity categories" that are too often kept separate.
Sorry the page is a bit under construction, but it is all on SATURDAY
august 28th and is a completely FREE event! also, there will be more

Description is on this page. (Polish up that magnifying glass it's hard
to read ! ! ! ! )
