Hi All,
I look forward to working with this group to help coordinate and
schedule Pinkfest 2004. I think Annie deserves a break to just enjoy
herself at Pinkfest!
Oct. 21-24 dates are good with me.
I live locally here in Chicago so it will be easier for me to coordinate
with Chicago area establishments to make reservations and such. I also
know fun things to do around Chicago. Pinkfest has gone to a lot of
good resturants and bars. I don't want to mess with sucess but I think
going to Oak Park one day/evening could be fun too.
Oak Park could be a good area to have dinner. Besides good restuarants
(such as Winberies) it offers:
1. Easy transportation from downtown by both CTA and metra train lines.
There is also a least one good hotel.
2. Good shopping in downtown Oak Park with a mix of independent stores and
chains. One store there which is very supportive and active in the Chicago
transgender community is Transformations by Rori. They sell just about
anything a t-girl could want and they do very good makeovers.
3. Oak Park is quite LGBT friendly.
4. There are some good nightclubs a 10-20 minute drive from Oak Park (there
might be some good local bars too but I need to check this out).
How does this sound?
Annie mentioned I will be promoting Pinkfest at Be-All next month. In
addition I will be promoting it locally in Chicago. Besides trying to
boost attendence I hope to get more local girls driving to Pinkfest
events. If we get more drivers in 2004 it can give us more options for
activities.
Thanks Diane for volunteering to help out. I am new at this and still
trying to figure out all what needs to be done. Being local it is easy
for me to call places and maybe check them out before hand. A second
contact person during Pinkfest would be helpful. Diane, if you have any
other ideas on things you could do, please let me know.
