(Oops ... this was written after. I just checked and the "glue" daemon
that connects the IRC to the web chat was not running. I probably forgot
to start it at the last reboot. It should be running now. That's why you
saw very old traffic on it.)

You missed me by a few minutes. Things were active about an hour
before, but they will come and go at times. I saw your sign-on but
you were gone before I could get back to you.

What I and many of the others do is to just keep a window open with the
preferred IRC client running. I'll check it every so often as I go into
the computer room and jump in if there is conversation going on.

You might just bring up one of the interfaces at a time in the early
evening when you're going to be at the computer for a few hours anyway.
Then you can see when activity picks up.

A number of people you've met at DLV and Pinkfest are regular or occasional
on there.
