Following up:

Thanks for all of the responses. Please keep them coming.

We're right at the beginning of our annual follow-up, and a number of
topics will be introduced and discussed over the following few weeks.
. . . . . . . . . .

The initial announcement of the follow-up survey has gone out and
responses have been coming in regularly.

We want to get as many of those who attended as is possible to please
take the survey, volunteers as well as rank-and-file attendees, so if
you attended and have not taken it, please do so at this URL:

Latest numbers:

As of Wednesday morning, we have 133 individuals verified as present,
which is right in the middle of the low and high numbers predicted by
the machine.

First-person sightings (thanks, gang!) has limited the number of "nag
notes" which had to be sent out requesting verification of attendance.

We still have 41 registrations (individuals or couples) that are still
in an unknown state. These are listed below and it would be appreciated
if you would look over that list and respond if you know that any of
them were actually in attendance.

Three rounds of such nag notes have gone out, and the response to said
nag notes has been much better than in recent years. We'll continue to
send these out until two subsequent mailings result in no responses and
then, unfortunately, mark those showing no sign of life as no-shows.

A few observations were noted regarding numbers and participation.

One was along the line of that even though we have been seeing actual
headcount turnouts well over 100 in recent year, those who regularly
participate in the activities is much smaller, perhaps in the 50-70
range or so.

One of the topics we'll discuss in coming weeks will be ideas to try to
get those who show up only once or twice to become more active and join
us for more of the activities.

Another observation was along the line that active participation tends
to decrease as the week rolls on, meaning higher percentages of no-shows
for activities scheduled later in the week. We can look at our reported
numbers for the various activities and see if we do indeed have such a
correlation.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Activity reports:

Thanks to all who reported on how their activities went. Please keep
these reports coming.

The responses which reported numbers only have been recorded but do not
appear here.

Katies Kosey Koffee Korner wrap up report.

I had planned on being there each day from Monday morning until Thursday
but unfortunately I had to miss the Thursday one.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I did however
walk past Club Cappuccino at 8:30 AM in male mode and only saw one of
our people there which leads me to believe I was not missed a whole lot.
lol.

Anyhow the KKKK morning activities went reasonably well each day
otherwise but the attendance was quite low almost every day! This leads
me to believe that some were likely having a coffee elsewhere or not at
all because we have had rather good attendance leading up to this year.
This was a bit discouraging but it is what it is and evolution is the
name of the game and I will bow to whoever wants to do it next year and
probably do only one or two at the Flamingo for my own benefit or anyone
who is staying there and is an early riser and would like to join me
there.

So here it is. :-- 4 or 5 people on Monday. 4 Tuesday. 3 Wednesday and
as I mentioned 1 on Thursday.

I hosted two events.

The Art Tour at the Bellagio had a total of 13 DLVers in attendance. I
didn't hear of any negative comments. We received a discount and the
manager of the gallery sought me out to hand me her card, an invitation
to return again in the future and an offer of a deeper discount next
year. (I was hoping for parking validations but they aren't there yet.)
. . .

Kiss Monster Mini Golf had a total of 18 in attendance (17 played golf
and Laura was there to take photos). Again, only positive comments, I
think having foursomes helped move the game along. Last year we had
groups of five and it slowed things down a little too much.

Here are the final results, and everyone got Style Points.

Rank Name total Notes.

1 Debbie 46 Two Holes in one
T-2 Annie 49
T-2 Jenn 49 Hole in one
T-5 Wanda 52 Hole in one
T-5 Marilyn 52 Earliest Hole in one
T-5 Debbie B 52 Hole in one
T-7 Cynthia 53 Hole in one
T-7 Sarah 53
9 Ginger 54
10 Jean 55
T-12 Sherry 57
T-12 Stephanie 57
T-12 Kay 57
14 Vanessa 58
15 Elaine 60
16 Barb 61
17 Susan 65

Average 54.7

The Foursome of Annie, Sherry, Debbie and Sarah finished with the lowest
group score.

Overall the week seemed to go well for me and except for my still
healing ankle, it was without problems or unwanted adventures.

Hello Ladies!

Hope all is well. What an amazing Diva 2018 I echo Annie's comments just
a lot of good positive feedback during the week WOW! Its because of you
people who dedicate your time and efforts to make this a success!

Now down to business....

Ruth Chris on Tuesday 18 ladies as always we got treated very well a bit
late getting seated but great service! I am homered to take this amazing
Venue over from Beverley who put so much heart and work into it!
. . .

Margarita Ville 8 ladies in total had a great time but very busy and I
fear some other may have missed us.

Ricardo's. Nice time was had by all that attended although we only got
11. I think 19 signed up. It was very intimate with a small group and we
got to know each other better than if it had been a large one.

Annie writes:

Here are some quick notes on the activities I was involved with:

On-site DLV check-in (Flamingo)

I think we've hit on the correct number of times, and the correct length
of coverage if we decide to continue the on-site check-in. All of the
first three days (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday) did see enough checking in to
make it worthwhile.

There was a technical issue with the name tags on Sunday afternoon, but
this was corrected for subsequent check-in sessions.
. . .

Virgil's BBQ option (Virgil's BBQ - Linq)

The food was great and the service was great too! The staff seemed to
love our folks! Turnout was what was expected. The machine said that 9.3
out of 13 would show, and we did indeed get 9.
. . .

Late Nite Dancing and Socializing (Paris Cabaret Lounge)

The turnout for this varied quite a bit from day to day. On some
evenings we did get great numbers and on others we saw disappointingly
small turnouts. Monday, following a very successful opener, was one of
the sparse turnouts, which was quite a surprise.

I wandered from the Cabaret to Gustav's Bar from time to time and I
never saw any meaningful gathering of our people at Gustav's, despite
the calls for a "quieter" late evening social venue and announcements of
Gustav's as such a setting. When I did encounter our people I did invite
them to join the rest of the gang in the Cabaret.
. . .

New attendee Welcome and Orientation (Bahama Breeze)

This did have a very meaningful turnout and I think that we are indeed
converging on something that works. Many were "fashionably late" and I
really don't see any way we can get rid of that factor.
. . .

New attendee Meet and Greet (Bahama Breeze)

This year we tried something new and different to encourage the
returning and regular DLVers to become acquainted with the newbees, and
I think it worked fairly well, despite quite a bit of assertive effort
necessary to get some of the returnees ("herding cats") to take a few
minutes and go introduce themselves to the newcomers.
. . .

Official Group Photo (Bahama Breeze) - ms

Speaking of herding cats! I think this went as good as it can be.
. . .

Giordano option (Giordanos Bally's)

This went quite well. The machine said that 10.6 out of 14 would show
and we got 9. Well within the expected numbers.

There was still some confusion, despite the obvious notes on the
schedules, as to which of the two Giordano's we would be using. I did
get phone calls and texts from people who were either lost or at the
wrong location.
. . .

DLV Treasure Hunt (Begin at Chayo at the Linq)

This one, unfortunately, will have to be filed in the "Lessons Learned"
category! :( Out of the 20 who signed up, the Magic Machine said that
15.2 would show, and that's what we based everything on and bought
prizes for.

Only a handful showed up, despite it being the only activity that was
scheduled between dinner and Late Night Dancing.
. . .

Limousine Tour (Begin at Linq)

This went very well, and the books actually balanced this year! :)

We had 28 signed up, the machine said that 22.4 would pay up, and I had
several who asked if they could be included, so I first planned on six
limos and considered them to be all full. We ended up with 24 riding.

However, when it came to contacting those who had not paid by Tuesday, I
got a number of nonchalant "well, I got a better offer" or "well, I
don't think I want to do that" and such. When informed that the deadline
for cancellation had long passed, all did agree that if I could not
resell their ticket, they would indeed pony up. By moving those assigned
to Limo 6 into the unsold seats, it worked out fine.

Photo staging roll-out:

Photos have begun to trickle in. The Admin Committee has tested out the
photo staging area and it appears to be working fine, and it will be
rolled out just as soon as we get attendance reconciled, which should be
within the coming week.

There were a couple of concerns raised.

One was a very upset individual who got rather huffy when I could not
absolutely guarantee that they (a couple) would never be photographed.
We'll review this when we cover "Issues and incidents", most likely next
week.

Another was a report that some staged photos "leaked" last year and
were posted in social media, prior to those who attended having the
opportunity to flag them for removal. There have been a couple of
adjustments made in the staging area to discourage this, and to more
easily identify who is doing any leaking. The testing has shown that
these tweaks do not interfere with the intended functionality of the
staging area.

For those who want to see the photo process move along more quickly,
please get those photos in sooner rather than later! :)
