Holiday season:
We've actually had quite a bit of activity since the last mailing.
Thanks to all who participated.
Comments are needed on a few items included in this mailing please! :)
We may or may not have any more ORG mailings prior to the first of the
year, depending on the level of activity and the time-sensitivity of the
goings-on. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy New Year from your
PM team! :)
We'll be sending out the test batch of re-registration emails to those
of you on the ORG list within the next week. If you're receiving these
mailings and don't get one, don't panic and don't feel snubbed, it's
most likely that your email for this list is not the email you used on
your registration. If you don't receive a re-registration email, just
let us know and we'll force it.
Please be sure to report any issues, including grammar/spelling and
wrong dates, that you observe during the registration process.

Topgolf:
Cami writes:
Let me respond to the comments on Topgolf.
Obviously, to get 32 people will be difficult. If we do not have some
type of group booking we will be forced to be placed in the queue for
our group and apparently at night it is very crowded with two hour-long
waits. No one will be happy with that. But, that is what we may be
forced to do.
An afternoon might be better in terms of us getting in sooner. Nothing
is cast in concrete and it was an attempt to just see what it would
cost.

Aleta writes:
I certainly think looking at some kind of reservation would be in order.
Topgolf is a large venue but looking back to my visit in May, it can get
very busy and I'm sure at times the space sells out. Topgolf has become
a very popular venue. There may be times that thirty extra people might
not be accommodated at that time.
I've said before, the more the merrier. I personally find it best to
choose a slower less busy time, rather than adding to the crowds. It
seemed to me at the time that the night was quite a bit busier than a
weekday, after all prices do vary based on the time of day, that's
supply and demand for you.
I myself would patronize Topgolf as an individual customer settling my
own bills rather than being on a package deal. Since Topgolf charges
based on time, I prefer the flexibility of playing as much or as little
as I want, and choosing my own food or drinks. From my visit I found the
folks at Topgolf to very professional and helpful in the answering of my
myriad of questions. I'm just not seeing a need for any kind of package
deals.
Let's see where this goes but I'm just not keen on paying a flat amount
when I can customize my own experience.

Annie responds:
Thanks, Ladies.
Cami? Would it be possible to get more of a definite tentative plan on
this? I'm thinking about an estimate of actual real-world cost and a
simple bullet-point list of the features available and the approximate
cost of them.
I'm assuming that food and drink will be at more or less the going rates
but I think we need more in terms of a "total cost of ownership" price
point, approximate as it may be.
I agree that a pay-as-you-go scheme will be more popular with our people
than some kind of a one-price-fits-all arrangement. Thanks.

Uber and Lyft:
Aleta writes:
> Would something like announcing "... all who wish to share Uber
> rides to the Bahama Breeze meet in the Flamingo lobby at 5:30" work?
That to me seems about the extent of it. To me there really isn't any
way to be formal about it. Yes having a group gather together to depart
at the same time would work, no different from meeting to carpool, taxi,
or ride the bus.
Keep in mind that when using Uber/Lyft, one person makes the request and
is ultimately responsible for the payment of the fare. There is a
sharing protocol available. However in order to split payment, everyone
in the group must have an appropriate phone and the Uber/Lyft
application signed in and open. The primary requestor of the ride can
send out invites to share the cost and they must be acknowledged by each
person invited.
Keep in mind if you have a group of four, and only three accept, perhaps
the fourth person does not have Uber/Lyft capability, then the fare will
be divided by three. So unless everyone is on board at the outset and
accepts the invite during the trip, then money matters can get a little
messy.
. . . . . . . . . .
Thanks Aleta.
Let's all please be thinking of this, and if there's a (following
Ginger's Mandate) :) SIMPLE way of leveraging ride sharing in order to
make such a thing practical and viable for DLV attendees.
Comments please.

Parking and Art and Golf:
Sarah writes:
I haven't heard anything recently about how the move to charge for
parking at some of the major casinos was going.
Have they started this? Do we know how much they are charging? This
could make the use of alternate transportation a much more inviting
option.
And on a scheduling issue, after the Golfers choose their day, probably
Tuesday or Wednesday, please slot the Art Tour in at 2:00 in the
afternoon of the day they aren't on the links.
. . . . . . . . . .
Annie responds:
News just broke yesterday that Caesars Entertainment, owner of Paris and
Flamingo, among others, will begin to charge for valet parking at most
of their hotels on December 19, and will begin phasing in paid
self-parking at "select hotels" during the first half of 2017.
CET now joins MGM with plans for paid parking at their Strip hotels,
making paid parking the "new normal" on the Las Vegas Strip.
Parking will remain free at CET properties (for now) for LV area locals
"with proper ID" and for Total Rewards members at the Platinum level or
higher.
As of this day, hour, minute, and second, it is unclear whether parking
at Paris and Flamingo will be paid or free during DLV 2017.
Valet parking rates will be $8 for the first four hours at the lower-end
properties (including Flamingo) and $13 for the first four hours at
higher-end properties (including Paris) with 24 hour charges at $13 and
$18 respectively.
Tentative self-parking rates are unknown at this time.
This will, of course, affect any DLV activities which use any MGM or CET
properties, and the one that comes to mind immediately is the Art Tour
which often times takes place at the Bellagio. This will definitely have
paid parking, both self and valet, during DLV 2017.
People on the various LV chat boards are following this closely, and we
are certain to immediately hear when CET plans to go with paid self
parking at the various properties.
There are some logistical and physical plant issues that need to be
taken care of to impose paid parking at some CET properties. Flamingo,
unfortunately, has a self parking garage which can be easily converted
to gate control.
I don't think that sounding alarms is in our best interest, but I think
a general notice in our next general mailing (early January) will be in
order, plus I think it's best to include notices in the activity notes
of activities which are affected, as there's a free-form field on the
schedule for parking notes which can be used.

Bare Minerals:
Dionne writes:
During my recent trip, I met the new Bare Minerals Store Manager at the
Fashion Show mall, LV.
Ms. Tisha Dottery has over 15 years experience in the MU world, using
Clinique, Christian Dior, Smashbox and Bare Minerals brands.
She has worked MU for Fashion runway shows, stage and movie productions.
Her experience includes being the personal MU artist for Britney Spears,
Marie Osmond and Ru Paul. This is a great opportunity for the Divas to
learn MU from this PRO artist and her team.
Just call the store to make your MU appointment at no cost to you. If
you are new to MU application, ask about their Starter kits to save
$$.Fashion Show, 3200 S Las Vegas Blvd #1305, Las Vegas, NV 89109 Park
in Blue underground section and the store is just up the escalator.
Phone for appt.: (702) 369-1556
Tisha & I agreed to use the same 'Call The Store' email system from last
year.Just change the event name from Makeover to Makeup sessions and we
are good-to-go.

Thanks, Dionne.
It sounds like the new management of the Bare Minerals shop will be
equally receptive to us, and yes, it's probably best to use the same
procedure as last year. We'll add the appropriate line items and sign-up
items to the schedule.

Trevi:
Dionne writes:
When I visited LV last month, I dined at Trevi restaurant, Caesars Forum
shoppes.
Joe, now the Beverage Manager, recognized me from prior Diva events (go
figure). He stopped by my table to say Hello and wanted to know when the
Divas were planning to return. He said the Management @ Trevi enjoys
having us and wants our group to return. He gave me the biz_card for
Michelle Woodruff; michelle_woodruff_at_ldry.com
Anyone interested in setting up a meal should contact her, directly.

Thanks, Dionne.
Laura T. has first refusal rights on the Trevi activity. I don't know if
she has the current contact info, but if she does not, she does now. :)

Still no on on-site check-in:
Katie writes:
Hi.
It is no secret that I dislike the Check in desk but has anyone else but
me thought "Where the heck were you going to put a lobby check in table
in the Flamingo"?
As far as I can remember from the post event comments there was only one
or possibly 2 who ever requested a check in table in the lobby of
whatever hotel they were thinking about at the time. What part of DLV is
not a convention have they missed? I would think that conventions and
conferences probably need this courtesy but we really do not. I think
the nice little discretely done check in system at Bahama breeze is a
far better way.
Can you just imagine the uncomfortable ladies who are dutifully manning
a table in the Flam lobby / Checking in and out area when 5 flights come
in at the same time? It is like a zoo during those periods.
The stares and the pointing and inevitable laughter and giggles from the
300 people standing in line would be enough to set my feet in motion
blazing a hasty retreat from the fish bowl atmosphere. Not to mention
the possibility of harassment from young adult red neck males in party
mode with 5 or 6 beers on board during their flight in.
Personally I don't see the need to cater to 2 people, If we must check
in then the Monday night at BB is the easiest and most attended venue of
the week so most attendees will be there I imagine. and it can be done
in reasonable privacy.
Not trying to jam the gears with a stick here, Just expressing an
opinion from someone who sees reality clearly. Look on the bright side.
If it aint broke why fix it. I seem to have heard that before
somewhere... KT

Aleta writes:
I don't think we need a check in desk at all, perhaps some kind of a web
based form that can be carried around on a phone, you take the name and
enter it, and check in is done an email or text a QR code, I'd be quite
good with that.
. . . . . . . . . .
Beverly responds:
I have no problem with a registration area for early sign in.
I know how difficult it is to get it done on Monday night at Bahama
Breeze. So an early or mid-morning sign in area Monday morning is fine
with me.
I would even be willing to host it from 8:00 till 9:00 or even 10:00.
And having it someplace like Club Cappucino seems to be a logical
location since we are gathering there anyway.
I don't think we need a big sign. No one has had any problem finding our
group of KKKK the last few years so no need to have a big sign.
. . . . .
Annie responds:
Let's hear from some of the rest of you on this, please. If the gang
does not want this, we won't have it, but I really do not see any harm
in trying it to see if it works.
I think there's still a big misunderstanding as to the scope and the
visibility of this. I'm personally thinking of only 1/2 hour per day,
using one small table in the area of Club Cappucino. I'm definitely not
thinking of anything that would be conspicuous enough to attract any
degree of attention from passers-by or make such an arrangement in any
way uncomfortable for our people.
The advantages I envision are the convenience for the attendees, the
reduction of the load on the check-in volunteers, a better way for the
shy folks to make first contact, and of course better accuracy in our
records.
Comments on this one please.
