Thanks to 2015 ORG members:

Unless something earthshaking comes in this next week, this will be the
final mailing to the DLV 2015 ORG group.

Annie, Beverly, and JoAnn wish to personally thank every one of you who
did their part to make DLV 2015 a success!

We sincerely hope that you found the experience to be rewarding and that
you'll continue with us for DLV 2016 and beyond! :)

Let's take a well-deserved break! We'll resume with the DLV 2016 ORG
mailings following the July 4th. holiday. :)
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks to all who sent in photos of this year's event. As of this time
we have a semi-final count of 2119 photos, which is not bad considering
that our historically most prolific photographer was absent this year.

The staging area will remain open, for review and removals, through the
month of June. Removal has been requested on 87 photos, or about 4% of
those submitted.

Unless something unforeseen occurs, the final pages will be on line
earlier this year, with a target of August.

Understanding the activity highlights:

Katie writes:

I think that our activity highlights grouped in with general topics of
conversation needs another look. What I mean by this is .. The activity
descriptions were grouped in with the other discussions and did not have
a separate individual area to go to with a specific title. IE: (((((
Our Activities! )))

Then a few hints such as

1). How to get there. 2). Suggested dress code. 3). Conduct guidelines.
4). Hostesses names and possibly an up to date photo of her and anyone
who is assisting her. 5). Method of Payment if necessary Etc' etc'....

This year the hostess posted her *Activity Highlight* Then there were
replies and follow up questions etc' attached to it which at first
glance to someone new to DLV looks like way too long a read for a simple
outing and consequently they likely breezed over it and stopped reading
half way through the 1st reply.

If we had a section in MY DLV (Which should have a Pointer from the
general mailings In every mailing at least 1 month prior to DLV 2016
directing the newer girls to read what is expected from them and what to
expect from a particular event then they should be able to dress
correctly, Arrive on time and enjoy themselves in regular DLV fashion.

I fail to see how anyone who read the opener description could not see
that it was going to be a dressy night out. But I am sure we missed
something out or it would not have been confusing. We have room to
improve on everything I suppose. Hopefully this or something similar
puts us on the right track so that no one arrives unprepared.

Annie responds:

We've talked about setting up a separate message area just for activity
highlights but we've never done it. The only way we will see if it works
or not is to try it, so let's try it this coming year.

The true test of if it works or not will be to compare the times read
and number of responses (of the posts in the separate area) with those
of recent years when they were all mixed together.

It may be a bit awkward on the gating to/from the other services but
that's a fairly straightforward technical issue.

Another thing we can do is give each Coordinator a "skeleton", which
would be populated by the on-file activity information, as a starting
point to use in writing the Activity Highlights.

Daytime activities:

Katie writes:

In the interests of improving our day outings I did a bit of research
today.

The Clarke County museum in Henderson looks like a really promising
possibility for a day activity. It looks from the web page that it is
quite extensive and covers Las Vegas history back to it's beginnings
which should be quite fascinating for some. (Me).

I could hostess this one and I would like to give this a try, but first
to be sure it is attention grabbing enough for our DLV ladies, Could
someone local take a trip out there to Henderson and let us know if it
is worth a look?.. The admission is only $2:00. Car pooling suggested...
It's more inclusive that way!

I think this could be done any weekday morning or early afternoon with
the possibility of a light lunch in Henderson thrown in there too! This
should not interfere with Lunch With Ginger as the Museum browsers would
likely not be doing lunch on the Strip anyway.

I also looked up The Nellis Air Base tour which should be interesting to
a few but unfortunately the tours are at 2 PM and only Tuesdays and
Thursdays which doesn't give the girls much time to get in motion for
the evening activities but if anyone is interested it is not a total
time warp museum, It only covers the modern styled planes involved in
air shows. but it might be worth a glance if anyone local would like to
take a closer look for us.

This is not something I would consider hostessing as it ios too late in
the day for me but if some air buff would like to teke the ball and run
with it . then it might fly.. (Yes sadly, Pun intended!) Ha!
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

I think most of us have been by the Clark County Museum many times
without ever stopping there. Yes, it could make a very good daytime
activity. If it's only $2 admission, it's most definitely more
affordable than most of the "museum" type attractions closer to the
Strip. Keeping things affordable is one of the things we should be
concentrating on for the year to come.

As an aside, the vicinity of the CC Museum was the site of some very
early DLV lore, where one certain lady got a first-night-out baptism
by fire when nature called. :)

IMAO, a tour of Nellis at 2:00pm, on a weekday with no major evening
activities, could work very well.

Younger attendees and Limo Tour:

Sherry writes:

After just returning from a few days at Wildside, I must admit to being
surprised. I thot they would dress a lot more risque, be much younger,
and act wild and crazy. When, in fact, they dressed very much like
DLV's, socialized similarly, and didn't appear to be much younger or
drunken, as a rule.

As Annie stated, they do enjoy being out and mixing with vanillas as
well as hanging with their girlfriends. So, clubbing and visiting
casinos and bars seemed popular. However, DLV's Hustlers nite would have
fit rite in. And, their bus tour was very similar to DLV's limo tour. 3
busses being easier to organize than 7 limos I assume?

If anyone wishes to attract younger T's? I suggest adding mainstream
clubbing events, (I never knew what that term meant until now!), and
bring back the limo/bus tour.
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

We haven't done the Limo Tour for two years now. Main reason is that we
had other newer "anchor" activities in 2014 and 2015 which took up the
timeslots that a Limo Tour would.

We can certainly bring it back for 2016, assuming we can get enough
volunteers to make it work. It's one of the activities that does involve
some "real work" of a few types.

We've discussed having a "Party Bus" either as one option on the Limo
Tour or replacing the limos totally. The reason cited for this has
always been the ease of loading and unloading.

IMAO, doing a bus for the Limo Tour would be, well, like riding a bus,
which really doesn't excite me. In actuality, it will be those who
volunteer to host(ess) the Limo Tour who will select the vehicles and
other LT details.

I don't think the Limo Tour specifically appeals to any age group. We've
had riders from under 21 to over 80 over the years, and except for one
year {blush} it's always been highly rated.

Now, if we want to specifically attract more younger DLVers, yes, we do
have to have activities which appeal to them, and yes, clubbing is one
of those, which can be emphasized more. This also appears to appeal to
several of our middle-aged people as well. However, I think the real key
to getting more younger people, as well as more attendees in general, is
the affordability factor.

Beverly's group rate thing at the Flamingo certainly helped with room
rates, and if we can get some coordination with room sharing again, we
can bring the nightly cost of accommodations down.

Yes, our dining options for 2015 did skew toward the higher end. We can
make a particular effort to seek out and to schedule places that are
good but affordable. Too bad Milano's is no longer there. That was a
very good example of something that was popular, very good, and cheap.
We've used Metro Pizza a couple of times, and that's another one of the
same ilk.

Brunch clarification:

Delaney writes:

Thanks. Just so all are aware, I wasn't offering Bouchon to "break the
bank" - low cost options are fine. I'm trying to put viable alternatives
out there.

For someone in my situation, my sunk costs, between airfare, airport
parking, hotels and a rental car are in the $1500 - $2K range, and this
is before I've actually done anything. Accordingly, I look for some
"special" options and events, to make the trip memorable.
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

You weren't misunderstood at all, Delaney. Although we're on a "kick" to
control costs, there's still room for upscale activities of all kinds,
for those who want them.

The best fit for something like this would be against a normal "Lunch
With" at a contrasting low-cost place such as a food court.
