Final ORG mailing:

Unless unforeseen circumstances arise, this will be the final ORG
mailing for DLV 2013. Anything further that comes in which is not
a matter of life or death will be held until after the event.

Everything appears to be in place and all bases appear to be covered
as of this time.

BIG THANKS go out to all who helped make DLV 2013 the event it will be!

Here are our close-to-final numbers:

Reconfirmed : 170
Registered : 0
First notice : 4
Second notice : 2
Canc. pending : 22

Cancelled registrations: 21

Total registrations: 170
Total SO: 37
Total signup: 207
Total projection: 165

We just broke the 200 mark for reconfirmed registrants This is those
who either signed up for activities or otherwise reconfirmed that
they will be present. This has happened once in the past, 202 for
DLV 2011. As of this minute and second, our total sign-up is an
all-time record.

It's most likely that our final show-up count will be somewhere
between the signup and projection numbers, most likely in the
160-ish to 180-ish range. Our record total show-up count is 179
so an attendance record is definitely within striking distance.

As you can see, we've had 21 voluntary cancellations and 22 which
we can consider all but cancelled for failing to respond to multiple
requests for headcounts. That will give us 40-some cancellations,
which is about half of what we had last year. If we were to see a
rush of cancellations, as we had last year, it would have happened
already, and it has not! :)

I would like to make a "Last Request" to all who volunteered to make
DLV 2013 all it can be. That is to please do what you can to be sure
that we have a smooth-running, harmonious, and well-enjoyed event.

Please feel empowered to be an official representative of the DLV
organization to the rank and file, and please don't hesitate to
proactively deal with any issues which may arise.

I would ask everyone to please keep a lookout for anyone who does
not appear to be having a good time, and please do what you can to
help things out, bringing in others if necessary.

If you hear complaints, and with 160-some attendees participating
in 70-some activities there are bound to be some, please help out
as best you can, to avoid having the situation escalate. If you don't
think you can help, please assist the attendee in finding someone
who can.

A good example of an anticipated complaint might be the delays in
seating and serving at the Artisan on Monday. There's really nothing
we can do to speed things up at the peak time, but we can help the
attendee understand why it is and encourage him or her to "go with
the flow" and enjoy the company while waiting.

I would also like to encourage all volunteers to please participate
as fully as possible, and to please encourage other to do so as well.
We have a great group of people and you and your friends will most
certainly enjoy such things as the daily lunches, the happy hours, and
if you are alive and awake, the Koffee Korner. (I still intend to make
one of these even if it means losing some beauty sleep!)

Again, I would like to personally thank all volunteers for the efforts
toward DLV 2013! This has been one of the smoothest of all from a
planning and organizational perspective!

For a saturday (4/13) evening event, could "Grindhouse Burlesque" at
Triple B, 601 E. Fremont St. be addded on yet? "Buttercup Delight" will
be performing with 6 others. Doors at 7, show at 8. $10 addmission.

We also need someone with a laptop that Buttercup can load her music
on for the show at EHM. It will be plugged into a amp at the museum.

For Saturday Pre-DLV parking, yes, directions to the parking garage
entrance are included.

We're not able to add any Saturday schedule items, as the schedule
does not begin until Sunday. I might suggest either announcing the
show in real time at the Pre-DLV gathering and/or posting a note in
the DLV Discussion Forum.

I have a Netbook (purse-size laptop) which they can use. It has a
standard green peecee-type line output jack which should run into
any sound system as long as somebody has the appropriate cable.

That's the good news.

The bad news is that it does not have a CD or DVD drive.

If they could furnish the music on something like a thumb drive or
a raw file copy, I'm sure it would work. I'll have it with me at
DLV so if you need it, let me know and I will bring it.

If somebody else has a full-size laptop with a CD/DVD, that may be
better, however.
