Following up:

Please continue your status reports and follow-ups. We're
coming very close to finalizing things for this year. The
photos continue to come in, and the staging links are due
to go out this Friday.

The response to the call to rate and comment on vendors
was phenomenal, far more active than in any previous year!

We've also had a very good initial response to the Call
For Volunteers. We'll be adding them to this list as we
form the new 2011 ORG group next month.
. . . . .

I'm in the process of writing up a summary of what I saw
as the various issues, incidents, rough spots, lessons
learned, etc. There really are not that many of them this
year. I'll post that shortly.

No-show last call:

We're very close to breaking the attendance record. We've been
sending out daily nag-o-grams, but it appears that this has
reached the point of diminishing returns.

Please take one last look at this list. If you recognize any
individual(s) on the list and know that they were indeed
present, please speak up.

Thanks.

Laundry list:

Just a few stragglers here ...

+Rocky Horror Picture Show (Onyx Theater) - ?????

Last call. Did anyone attend this? No affirmative responses
out of 90-some have come in on the survey.
. . .

+Mortons HH and Dinner (Morton's) - ?????

Alanna? How many please? I know there was at least one since
there has been one survey response so far.

Shopping trip:

Thanks for the report, Mindy. Yes, there were many reasons
why some did not make the Thrift Shop Tour, or any of
several other activities. Yes, sometimes you do have to
set some limits, and that's very understandable.

What's important as far as the Thrift Shop Tour is concerned
is that those who went on it enjoyed it. :)

Fashion Show:

The survey responses which have come in so far (90-some)
show 2 responding for the lunch and 5 responding for the
fashion show, so we know those were our minima for those
two activities. If we assume that 80% of the survey responses
which will be coming in are in, those numbers give a very
conservative estimate on actual attendance.

>Hope I did not let anyone down.

I'm sure you didn't. You were there and available, which is
what's important.

One thing I do think is important is that if something is
listed on our schedule, there needs to be a DLV representative
present.

I have mixed feelings about suggesting things that people
can do on their own time.

Murder/Mystery Report:

Holly writes (first-person, no quoting):

I think this year's Murder/Mystery function was even better
than last year.

Although holding it at Just You/Glamour Boutique was originally
done as a matter of convenience and to hold down the cost
(Amy lets us use the facility without charge) it has turned
out to be a very nice venue. There are plenty of little nooks
and crannies for cast members to plan their evil plots and
scheme and bribe fellow cast members trying to get to the
truth of the matter as to who killed the victim.

The catered in dinner is working well and the caterer has
gone the extra mile in working with us. I conducted an
informal poll among the cast at the end of the evening and
received no negative responses.

This year's cast really got into their parts and that really
made the difference. I think getting the parts and information
into their hands via email before DLV was a great help. This
is possible by requiring pre-payment.

This year worked very well by using Amy as the pay point. She
took the payments and collected the email address from the
participants and then forwarded the information to me and I
sent out the information to the participants. We touched
bases often, especially during the last two weeks before DLV
so I could get the information out in a timely manner and
I could keep her informed as to how we were doing as far as
capacity was concerned.

As there seems to be a continuing interest, I am considering
another one in 2011.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks, Holly.

As I've said, this is a very good example of something which
is totally different which has worked well for two years now.
If you think you can pull it off again in 2011, by all means,
go for it. :)

I don't know if we really needed something like this or not.
Everybody seemed to be occupied and having a good time, and
as we know, nobody appeared bored, the place was packed,
there was no early rush (or trickle) of people out the door
until there was a clear terminating marker.

Maybe I just want something that was highly successful to
be even "more perfect" than it was. :)

Firefly restroom issue:

Is anyone aware of any details on this issue/incident which
was reported as a vendor comment on the Big List?

+My ts so was given all kinds of hassle in using the bathroom.
+A DLV member thought she was a cd instead of a ts and wanted
+her to use the women's bathroom on another floor of the hotel
+and yet she is a woman and has had the operation! ...

I would hate to have this on record as a negative against the
venue if no Firefly or Plaza employees were involved in the
issue.
