Org List:

This is the DLV 2010 Organizational Mailing List (dlvorg@geekbabe.com)
Replies to this message will be forwarded to the DLVORG list and not
the DLV-Announce or DLV-Discuss list.

DLV 2010 planning:

Thanks to all who recently reported in. You will notice that
our "laundry list" is much shorter this time.

Validated headcount as of Friday morning stands at 132 with
one validation pending. These are, of course, to be expected.
The compliance has been very good this year, only one
significant issue with validation so far.

Out of these 132, the magic machine says that 112 of them
will show. I think we're on target for a possible record
turnout in April!

22 SO's signed up so far, 18 of them being returnees, and
4 first-timers.

Newcomer registration has only been open less than a week,
so many others are still to come.

In general, plans are looking good ... with one major
exception ...

Might as well address the 25,000 pound elephant which stands
in front of us. :)

I'm directing this primarily to those of you who volunteered
to help with DLV 2010, but as of yet are not involved with
one or more major activities. (You know who you are.) :)

I'm directing this secondarily to those who voted "NO" on
the proposal for the Ending Formal. (You know who you are.) :)

This will be the last time I assertively pursue this issue.
If the gang here feels that "Free Time" is our best option
as the featured activity of our final evening, then let it
be so. We do have the option of designating Friday as a
"wind-down day" if we have really, truly, reached the
capacity limit of our volunteer force.

I don't think it's right to hardass those who are already
doing multiple activities and coerce them into taking on
yet another item. I don't want to jeopardize either the
quality of the other activities or the enthusiasm of our
volunteers.

If a significant ending get-together is to happen, someone
is going to have to pick up this ball and run with it. If
nobody grabs for the ball, it will not happen.

We have a few drop-in options, such as Bahama Breeze and
Carluccio's. We're also open to any new and different ideas
of any type.

If anybody wants to take this one on, it will be appreciated.

Laundry list:

Let's first go down a list of items which have not been in
discussion for some time and get a clear go/no-go on each
of them.

Thanks to those who have already reported in! We cleared
quite a few items from this list on the last go-round. :)

Pin project:

>Amy on supply and availability.

One thing I do owe you, and no I haven't forgotten, is a
set of photos of the prior pins. I just keep spacing this
off whenever I have a copy stand set up.

Please let me know which pins are sold out, and I'll omit
those from the photos.

>GB/JY is a great single location to purchase the pins, and
>no one has to find me at events to get a pin... they just need
>to go to GB/JY. No decision on how the '10 pin will look at
>this time.

Thanks for the feedback, KY. I'm considering both NSD and
the Pin Project to be on target. :)

Roller Derby:

Rosada writes:

>Yes definitely meeting at one place and then either carpooling
>or caravanning out to the roller derby boot camp is a good one.

>How about meeting at the Glamour Boutique parking lot. We'll
>plan on being at the GB parking lot at 7:30 p.m. We'll be using
>our pickup so we can offer a ride to a couple of the girls if
>they need a ride.

Thanks Rosada.

I'll add "Meet in Glamour Boutique parking lot at 7:30pm"
unless you state otherwise. However, I might even suggest
posting a 7:15 or even a 7:00 rendezvous time, knowing the
propensity of our people to run "fashionably late", plus
the real-world traffic conditions, delays in getting the
group actually moving, and such.

>Also Annie go ahead and make this a sign up activity.

Ok, I'll mark this as sign-up required.

>Would you recommend each one deliver their own donation or
>gather it all up before we arrive and give its one offering.

>What would be better?

That's really your call. :) You can make a command decision! :)
I might also suggest that you set a reasonable requested
donation amount. I have "donations appreciated" in the "cost"
field on the final schedule now. Something like "$xx.yy
donation suggested" might be more appropriate.

Charles Bar update:

Gina writes:

>Hi All,

/nick all
hi gina
/nick fnordia

>False Alarm, Charles is available that evening and is looking
>forward to seeing us!

Thanks, Gina. :)

I didn't think I was on drugs when I said that we were there
early Thursday morning and he was there.

>He is also trying to convince his wife to join us, I did
>however guarantee that she wouldn't have to buy a drink
>all evening!

Of course she won't have to buy any drinks! Charles just
writes them off as "comp", right? :) :)

Seriously, if Stacey does show up, I'll buy her one.

Golf update:

Mindy writes:

>Ok golf is finally arranged.

>Price is same as last year with same arrangement to send to
>me via pay pal. I will get the info out of the files.

One thing I might suggest, and this is really your call, is
that you contact Amy at Glamour Boutique as she volunteered
to take payment for multiple DLV activities this coming
year.

That's the good news.

The bad news is that GB will be taking a cut of the action,
and rightly so.

Anyway, it's something for you to consider.

>I am amazed we haven't had a price increase in several years.
>Keep expecting it. Anyway everything is the same as the past
>few years.

Let's just say that you're a good negotiator! :)

Thanks again for the updates, Mindy. :)
