Welcome Back:
I hope everyone had a good holiday season, and have at
least started to lose those few extra pounds that we
gained. :)
With DLV 2008 just a short three months away, it's now
time to roll up the sleeves and get the activity
schedule for DLV 2008 set.
The major activities are firmly planted into the
schedule due to the venues or coordination with other
activities. Such as NSD, prduction show and Limo
Tour, ... and such.
With that in mind, here are some of the issues I
believe we need to address which will make DLV 2008
even better.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Activity Balance:
In past DLVs, there have been days with too many
activities, and some days with too few. That lead to
some attendees having to choose between two that
he/she wanted to attend. We need to work toward
balancing the schedule to minimize the overloaded
days.
I'd like each of you to please check the current
schedule and give input on which activities may
overlap or conflict, and where they might fit better.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Volunteer Workload:
We have some volunteers who have worked, and
continuing to work, very hard almost to the point of
overload.
We have a few volunteers who have previously committed
to "help any way I can", and it would also be
extremely helpful to have a pool of additional
volunteers come forward and offer their help.
If you've never volunteered to coordinate an activity,
you could be an assistant to the primary coordinator.
Our goal is to have a primary coordinator and an
assistant coordinator for each activity.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Our Commitment To Hospitality:
The post DLV 2007 survey indicated that some
attendees, especially first-timers, felt out of place
and ignored.
As Organizers, we need to make sure everyone,
especially first-timers, are made to feel welcome.
Perhaps, the best way to accomplish this might be to
have a Hospitality Group made up of organizers that
makes sure each person is greeted and introduced to
others.
We would need a some Organizers, a few at a time, to
pull a "shift" of a half hour or so at or near the
entrance.
Tootsye would be able to identify the newbies as they
check-in.

Attention to detail:
The survey also pointed out that some scheduled
activities didn't start on time, or were late in
leaving assembly areas.
Yes, I'm as guilty as anyone on this. NSD didn't
leave on time due to a lost limo.
That's not an acceptable excuse for activies at this
years DLV.
We need to be sure that what's on the schedule will
happen at the time it's posted, with an obvious
volunteer present at the start time for each activity.
This emphasizes the need for at least two volunteers
per major activity.
Any daytime activity that starts late needs to finish
on time, even if it means cutting it short. We can't
spoil the turnout at a prime evening activity by
letting a prior activity run long.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Planning and Deadlines:
Any activity that requires a headcount of sign-up
needs to be firmed up by April 1... with no
exceptions.
Actually, we should be thinking around March 15 as a
good target date, with a 10 day grace period.
All other activities that do not require headcount or
sign-up should be firm by April 10.

Checking the daytime schedule:
Monday, April 21:
Empty space -
probably the least critical of the weekdays. Perhaps
a Studio Lites or Harmony Nail Spa open house could
fit well.
Also, maybe a shopping trip, Chick Flick, roller
coaster at Primm, Skywalk...
Tuesday, April 22 :
Major Empty Space -
We need at least one daytime item of some significance
plus maybe a smaller one as well. Open house? Harmony
Nail Spa? Some kind of touristy thing?
Wednesday, April 23:
Diva Las Vegas Invitational Golf (Desert Rose - MS)
Golf is a good anchor activity for the day. However we
need another item in there for fullness. Primm, side
trip?
Thursday, April 24:
AM-PM Art Tour (TBD)
3:00pm English High Tea (Four Seasons)
Thursday day is full. No more!
Friday, April 25:
Glamour Boutique Open House? Wedding festivities? We
don't want any full day side trips, as people are
getting worn out and slowing down.
Saturday, April 26:
SBS Social???
