Headcounts:
Headcount mailings went out this morning. Responses started coming in
literally within seconds of when I launched the process. About 10% of
the mailings were responded to within the first hour. You can see the
updated rosters below. LaFemme, Friday dinner, and La Cage appear to
be very popular items.
I'm asking everybody who "cheated" in advance to please fill out this
screen again, since some of the items may not have been on it when you
did it, and I reset all of the reconfirm flags before the mailings went
out.

In the "war and peace" edition of the mailing list, which, looking
ahead, will probably be toward the end of the week before DLV.

I don't think we'll have to worry about that this year. We will make
it very clear that the group photos *WILL* be posted on the web and
that if people don't want to be in them, they should not pose.

Speaking very freely, the person who raised the stink last year is
again signed up to attend. If she gets up to pose for any of the
group photos I will personally remind her that there will be no
cropping, blurring, or any type of ex-post-facto removal.
Here's a copy of what I plan to include in the final mailing. I
don't think there have been any changes since I shared it with you
last fall.

+About photography:
+At DLV, there are no general restrictions on the taking of or the
+noncommercial use of personal photographs. It can be assumed that
+several people present will have cameras and will be taking pictures
+throughout the event at all activities.
+In addition, there will be one or more times where we call for a posed
+group photograph.
+Once a photograph has been taken, it is very difficult, if not
+impossible, to control the distribution of it.
+It can be assumed that a significant number of the photos taken at DLV
+will end up on the web.
+That being said, the conclusion of a discussion of this following DLV
+2001 was that the risk of unwanted recognition as a result of appearing
+in a DLV photograph is extremely small. Very close to zero!
+The highlights of that discussion can be summarized as follows:
+* The chance of a naive friend, relative, co-worker, etc., stumbling
+on your photograph on the web is so small as to be statistically
+insignificant.
+* It is very unlikely that somebody who knows you only in boymode will
+actually recognize you when seeing an image of you in girlmode.
+* The clarity and closeness of typical photographs taken at DLV will
+seldom result in an actual recognizable likeness.
+* Only people with an active interest in the subject (transgender) spend
+any time viewing DLV pages in detail.
+Camera-shy individuals, please follow these guidelines:
+1. In a courteous manner, please inform anybody who is taking pictures
+if you do not want to be photographed. Remind them at each activity at
+which they are taking pictures. Refresh their memory if they point a
+camera your way.
+2. Be aware that during the excitement of the moment, those taking
+pictures may not remember that you do not wish to be photographed. If
+somebody points a camera your way, wave him or her off or turn your
+head.
+3. If you don't want to be photographed, do not pose whenever a call is
+made for a group photograph. No, we will not be making two editions of
+the group photos.
+Photographers, please observe the following:
+1. Please respect the wishes of those who do not want to be photographed.
+2. Please use discretion when photographing anybody in boymode,
+mixed-mode, or any state of undress or incomplete dress.
+3. Please look beyond the subject of your photographs to avoid including
+those in the background who might not want to be in your photographs.
+When we put together the "official" DLV 2002 followup pages, we will post
+all candidate photos in a private staging area. All present will have the
+opportunity to preview these and everybody will have a reasonable number
+of "no" votes to any photos in which they appear.

Boardwalk items:
There's been a bit of discussion both on line and off line regarding the
Boardwalk lately.
What I would like to do between now and DLV is to focus our attention and
efforts toward DLV 2002. I see the following items on the plate regarding
the Boardwalk and DLV 2002.
1. Thursday evening reception, as Mindy has noted below. I think we may
have a timing issue here, though.
2. Promotions from Boardwalk to our DLV 2002 participants.
3. Guest room bookings for our DLV 2002 people.
I would like to table any discussion of our use of the Boardwalk (or any
other facility) for DLV 2003 until our DLV 2003 planning begins, and we
have feedback from our people regarding the Boardwalk (and other
properties.)

This (Sahara sold out) was reported to the main list a couple days ago.

As the Sahara and the IP fill up, our people are gonna start booking
over at Palace Station and some of the other places unless they see
some numbers that look attractive.

As you probably know, Sahara does have a large surface lot in the back,
and I remember all kinds of oversize vehicles in there. It's kind of a
mess now, since they are building the monorail extension back there,
but there is still quite a bit of space there.

As of this day, hour, minute, and second, we have 14 people signed up
