Announcements:
LAST CALL to get your name in the DLV 2002 e-mail directory. This will
be sent out Sunday evening. If you wish to be included, just send in
your name the way you want it to be listed, your e-mail address, and
optionally your web site URL. Deadline is 6:00pm CDT Sunday.
This mailing contains all of the feedback items, testimonials, etc. that
came in prior to Friday morning. If you sent in something before Friday
and have not seen it yet, please send in a reminder. I haven't
intentionally excluded anything, but it's possible that something got
misplaced here. I'm still in catch-up mode here. There are a couple
items which have come in since and they will be sent out next mailing.
Photos. All that were received by Saturday morning have been posted in
the staging area. All vetos received by Saturday evening have been
removed. One retouched replacement image was posted Saturday evening,
although I couldn't tell exactly what was done from a quick look. :)
http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/dlv2002/staging.html
Note that some images have been renamed to eliminate duplicate file
names. Also images that came in with non-web-friendly file names (like
file names with spaces) were renamed.
Big thanks to the following people who have sent in photos. If you sent
in some and don't see your name here, please send a reminder, as I do
want to give you credit. Aiko, Annie, Anya, April, Cat, Dianna, Ginger.
Lori, Mardi, Mindy, Monique, Rhianna, Samantha, Tina, Tootsye, Vicki,
Willow. This is by far the largest collection of DLV photos we've ever
had throughout our history.
I know we have some more coming by snailmail, and on my do-it list is to
contact some others about getting some scanned, so we're not done yet.
Quite a bit of feedback is already appearing on such things as
newsgroups and Yahoo groups. Most of it is highly positive, I have yet
to see anything negative.
There's a slight delay in the DLV 2002 feedback survey. This will be on
line sometime this coming week. I hope that everybody who attended will
respond to it. Thanks in advance.

Photo usage:
>Say Annie, what's the policy for using and re-posting photos? I thought
>I should check first.
We don't really have a policy. I would say that normal fair use applies.
If there's a photo of you in the bunch which you would like to use for
your own noncommercial web site, I would say to grab it and do it.
For photos of others, the vetos (vetoes?) are still coming in, so please
hold off copying until things have been moved into their final resting
place.
If you're going to use the photos, I would ask that you copy, rather than
remote load, and please provide a link to http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/
>And by the by, thanks once more for a super

You're very welcome and apology accepted.
Oh, and I (Annie) was not the one doing the herding on Saturday after
the show. I was kinda incognito that evening. :) :) :)
That evening will never be repeated, but you can be sure that the good
times we had will happen again at DLV 2003.

Thanks, and I didn't mean to poo-poo your suggestion. If you or anybody
wants to send in captions to any of the photos, please feel free to do
so.
>In viewing past years of DLV I see that you are the originator. I

Thank you very much. Comments like that are always appreciated.
Yes, I'm one of the originators. What we now call DLV was started by me
and John (JohnInLA on IRC) just as an in-real-life meeting of some of us
who had met on the Internet. John has not been at DLV since 1997, but
he's still around and I'll get him back one of these years.
Deb (windy on IRC) has also been with us each year. Up until this year,
Holly (Margeth on IRC) had perfect attendance but could not be with us
this year.
In case anybody wonders what this "IRC" stuff is all about, and Judy's
reference to "on the channel" above, it's Internet Relay Chat, and that
is what is really responsible for getting us all together.
IRC has been around long before AOL chat rooms or the various web chat
servers out there. (In fact, IRC purists cringe when somebody refers to
an IRC channel as a "room".)
If anybody would like to drop in on the group which originally spun off
DLV, the commands using MIRC, IRCII, or any standard IRC client are:
/server irc.pinkmyst.com
/join #transgender
There's a java-based web interface at: http://www.tggalaxy.com/
There's also a low-tech html-only web interface at:
http://www.geekbabe.com/at/wc.html
The channel is most active evenings, USA time. If it does not appear
to be active, just wait a while.
Oh, if you see the name Dionysia on there, it's me (annie). :)

We hope to have some preliminary info on DLV 2003 out by the middle of
the summer or so. If you (or anybody) are serious about volunteering to
help with DLV 2003, we'll have a call for volunteers in the next few
weeks.
